Standard DJ

A standard DJ is the person who selects and plays prerecorded music for an audience. This DJ is not specialized in any particular genre or style of music but has a general appreciation and understanding of mainstream music. A standard DJ is not an announcer or broadcaster

Premium DJ

A premium DJ has much more experience and qualifications than a standard DJ. The premium DJ is selected to suit teh specific event, since the premium DJ is more versed and capable or performing to the particular audience. The Premium DJ is also trained to broadcast and announce events and activities with finese and flair.

Basic Equipment

The DJ's preferred medium (eg. vinyl records, compact discs, computer media files) A combination of two devices, or sometimes one if playback is digital, to play sound recordings, for alternating back and forth to create a continuous playback of music (e.g. record players, compact disc players, computer media players such as an MP3 player) A 300 Watt per channel amplifier A pre-amplifier tuner A 3-band equalizer A power conditioner A DJ mixer, an electronic, usually two-four channel, mixer with a crossfader used to smoothly go from one song to another (using two or more playback devices) One full range speaker (12 inch bass, mid-range and tweeters) on tripod stand Headphones 15 feet of corded microphone

Modified Equipment

Same package as Basic Equipment but with one modification (usually depends on customer's requirements) Sample modifications / add-ons can be cordless microphone, headset microphone, extra speaker etc

Mixing and Editing

Techniques used to create a better blend and ambience to pre-recorded music. These techniques primarily include the cueing, equalization and audio mixing of two or more sound sources. The number, complexity, and frequency of special techniques depends largely on the setting of the event.

Thematic Pre-Planning

Organising specific music from specific genres or categories to accompany a particular event or events. This is achieved through research and sourcing of music fitting the mood desired. Many factors are taken into consideration for this, such as cultural backgrounds, eras and timeframes, demographics, environment and psychology
